Office of Corporate Relations Intro Package

Collaboration between higher education and business can be productive for all involved. The University of Illinois’ Office of Corporate Relations is the first stop for companies who are considering teaming up with the state’s largest research institution. The folder holds a brochure, business card, and other papers specific to each partnership. Die cuts reveal the Illinois logo and school colors, while adding extra dimension to the package. This combo was designed to impress—U of I is known for excellence and innovation.

Integrated Pest Management

The North Central Regional IPM Center has been managing a grants program since 2003. Over $8 million was awarded to 96 projects that have addressed critical pest control and pest education issues. Impact has been felt from schools to farms.

Every few years a publication has been produced to highlight the achievements of the NCRIPM awardees. This is the last one of the series. Rather than present data, director Susan Ratcliffe, Ph.D., wanted a more visual approach. Large, colorful images; short, succinct summaries; subject matter tagged at the top; and state outlines used as icons; all help the reader to get an overall impression before reading more.

All involved are pleased with this coffee-table-ready booklet.

These two publications highlight the achievements of a world-class institution, as well as report financial statistics. The University of Illinois has enormous impact on the state economically. It attracts students and professors from around the globe. Its research has far-reaching impact, and these brochures help get the word out.

Impact Illinois and Pocket Facts are publications from the Office for University Relations. OUR oversees marketing for the three campus system, and all its satellite facilities.

Public Art League Sculpture Map

The Public Art League brings sculpture to Champaign-Urbana for all to enjoy. Studio 2D is pleased to support this organization by providing pro bono design for their brochure with map. With so many new sculptures arriving continuously, the only challenge is to keep it up to date!

NITOP Logo Redesign

The symbol for the National Institute for the Teaching of Psychology, an annual conference, has always been a flame. The board requested a visual identity update to appeal to younger teachers. The look had to be modern, passionate, and dynamic. Transparent flames show the community and interaction of participants. A lower case acronym is informal and approachable, with all caps underneath as the traditional spelled out name.

The brochure folds out to a poster than can be displayed on a bulletin board.

Elemental Solutions

Elemental Solutions offers experience and expertise in water treatment to save customers money and be more environmentally friendly. The business is service oriented, and all the marketing material is focused on what Elemental Solutions can do for the customer. They came to me with a nicely designed logo, and not much else. Studio 2D designed an identity that says clean technology, with knowledgeable and dependable service. The response has been extremely positive. Though a newer business in the field, Elemental Solutions has the presence of a major player. (Which they have since become!)

Pavlov Media

Pavlov Media was between designers, and Studio 2D was called in to complete a few essential projects. We were working with an established brand. Using the existing logo and colors, we produced a variety of professional, high quality marketing pieces, including this presentation folder, brochure, and website.

UPCRC Illinois

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has been at the forefront of computing for decades. This logo and promotional package were designed in the early 21st century for the Universal Parallel Computing Research Center. The orange parallel lines fade into infinity as they approach the name of the center, set in a typeface that itself has strong parallel lines.

As you can see in the photos, a subtle varnish drives home the theme of parallelism. A die cut adds emphasis to the Illinois mark. Today, parallel computing is pervasive, thanks in part to research done at the University of Illinois.
